PR Launch for New Telemedicine Technology in Marine Industry
Client: DigiGone
Dates: 2013-2016
Situation:
DigiGone, a small Florida-based start-up, had developed new techniques to enable high-definition video transmission over narrowband satellite channels. The company had formed a strategic relationship with George Washington University’s Maritime Medical Access Program to provide real-time telemedicine video conferencing services for ships at sea.
Challenge:
DigiGone was totally unknown in the commercial maritime industry and had no internal marketing or PR resources. The company asked Rhodes Communications to take the lead in launching the marine telemedicine service into the worldwide marine market with minimal investment. Rhodes Communications proposed an aggressive PR campaign to kick off with press briefings for maritime media at the Nor-Shipping trade show in June 2013, followed by an ongoing PR effort to create awareness and brand visibility.
Results:
The PR campaign resulted in more than 12 major multi-page article placements and hundreds of print and online stories in marine media globally.
